Stroke Recovery Fund for Kaydee
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Nikki and I am fundraising for my sister, Kaydee Jacobs. Kaydee just turned 33 years old and has two children, Nora (age 5) and Greyson (age 3).
Just after midnight on Wednesday, August 9th, my mom took Kaydee to the ER with extreme head pain, nausea, and blurry vision. They did a CT scan and lab work and she was diagnosed with a migraine and sent home. Over the next couple of days, her symptoms grew increasingly worse. On Friday, my mom took her back to the ER and this time she was given an MRI, which revealed she had a small brain bleed and had suffered a vertebral arterial dissection resulting in an ischemic stroke. She was hospitalized from Friday, August 11th to Wednesday, August 16th. During that time she underwent multiple procedures including MRIs, CTs, EKGs, an EEG, MRA, Occipital Nerve Block Shots, and more. While her symptoms are improving daily, she is still dealing with extreme head pain, occasional issues with her speech (stuttering or struggling with word recall), difficulty walking on uneven terrain (she is using a walker), issues with her vision, fatigue, and working through the emotions that stem from the trauma of the experience.
She is staying with our parents while she focuses on recovery. As the mother of two young children and a basset hound puppy, she will require a lot of support as she recovers and we are blessed to have such a strong support system in our family, however, the financial strain created by this situation adds another layer of stress. The money that is raised will be used to help pay for her medical bills as well as her house/monthly bills while she recovers. She has to go on unpaid Family Medical Leave while she is recovering. Any help is appreciated as well as keeping her in your thoughts and prayers at this time!
