Hello! My name is Natalie Albaugh, a directing student at DePaul University, and I'm excited to announce my next short film, Still Her, is in pre- production and set to shoot beginning of May! This film is a 4 minute dark experimental short film exploring mental health through the lens of a young women in her 20s.
As a young adult navigating the current landscape, my mental health has been significantly tested by external pressures, including the rapid acceleration of technology, political instability, a patriarchal society and the enduring effects of the pandemic. I want to explore not only the experience of severe depression and anxiety, but the impact society has on young adults right now as well.
Logline: A descent into the quiet chaos of a young woman's mind, where depression and modern isolation lead to a fractured and distant sense
of self and reality. Ultimately this is a film that will disturb the comfortable, and comfort the disturbed, but without your help this won't be possible!
In order to ensure a safe, collaborative, and fun environment for my cast and crew, it is important that we provide proper crafty and transportation. This is a team of incredible independent Chicago based filmmakers and students, each inspired to create because of their love for independent filmmaking, storytelling and spreading a strong message: that no one is alone when it comes to mental health. But sadly, independent filmmaking isn't possible without the support from people like you! Your support will help feed our crew and cast throughout the three day shoot, covering lunches, breakfasts and other crafty, as well as any emergency Ubers or other forms of transportation.
Any donation or support towards helping my team and the film is greatly appreciated, especially as I am a directing student self funding this project. Being able to create art, and bring people together is my passion, and I'm beyond grateful I get to make this film with your help! Independent filmmaking thrives off of people like you who are willing to support the true art form of cinema.
Thank you for your donation/interest!
