Hi, I’m JJ Pope, founder of Q-Hall — NC's first women's sports bar and Asheville's (NC's) only self-identified lesbian bar.
Since launching this campaign, so much progress has been made! We officially opened our doors at 81 Coxe Ave on September 16, 2026 and seeing our space filled with sports fans and community members has been an absolute dream come true.
Phase 2: Finishing Touches & Winter Resilience
Our GoFundMe remains active as we work through the remaining build-out goals for our space and prepare for our very first winter season. Your contributions directly support:
- Sappho’s Lounge (A One of a kind Sapphic Library & Listening Room): Curating furniture, decor, and cozy vibes to bring this signature room across the finish line with a dedicated nook for community book collections, music, and cozy gathering.
- Essential Equipment: Purchasing and installing additional refrigeration behind the back bar store room to handle busy game-day demand.
- Building Our Winter Reserve: Offsetting these initial setup, decor and equipment costs allows us to keep our daily revenue dedicated strictly to fixed expenses (rent, utilities, and team pay) while saving up for the seasonal over-winter lull.
Every contribution helps build a stable foundation for our first year and cements your status as a Q-Hall All-Star! It’s the perfect way to back our *From Popups to Permanent* evolution and support a lasting sanctuary for women’s athletics and local queer culture.
Consider it laying a cornerstone for Asheville’s community – one that just happens to have much better lighting and a lot more lesbians and dyke-adjacent LGBTQ+ folks passionately debating point spreads and finding new friends and intersts under one roof.
You can also help by coming in for a drink, bringing your crew, and grabbing some merch at 81 Coxe Ave!
