On January 31, 2026, Andrea Groves’ life changed in an instant. While caring for her horse, she was kicked in the chest, causing severe injuries. She was rushed by ambulance to St. Charles, where doctors discovered she had five broken ribs and serious heart complications.
Although she initially showed signs of improvement her first night in the ICU, her condition suddenly worsened when the right side of her heart went into failure. Her blood pressure dropped to critical levels, and doctors were deeply concerned.
Because of the complexity of her condition and her rapidly declining health, the team at St. Charles made the decision to life-flight her to OHSU for specialized cardiovascular care. During the long wait for transport, doctors prepared the family for the worst, sharing that they were not sure Andrea would make it.
About a week after the accident, Andrea underwent open heart surgery. She overall spent 2 weeks in the ICU, fighting every day to recover. Thanks to the incredible medical teams and her own strength, she is now on the long road to healing, but her recovery will take time, rest, and significant medical care.
Andrea is a devoted mother, daughter, friend, and coworker who has always been there for others. Now, she needs our help. The costs of emergency transport, life flight, open heart surgery, ICU care, ongoing treatment, and time away from work are overwhelming.
We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden during this difficult time and allow Andrea to focus fully on healing. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference for Andrea and her family.
If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping Andrea in your thoughts and prayers as she continues her recovery.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
