My 6 month old Cavapoo Woody has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure or in medical terms renal dysplasia, stage 4.
Woody was born with this condition and his kidneys have never developed since birth.
As there is no cure for this condition Woody has only months possibly weeks to live.
Woody was in hospital for 6 days receiving the best possible care and treatment.
As this is a birth defect and pet insurance won’t cover it, this is a huge cost and any contribution to this would be hugely appreciated.
Ideally Woody needs a kidney transplant / dialysis but unfortunately that treatment isn’t available in the UK, only in the US or Australia which I cannot get my head around.
Update
Woody is now home and we are taking each day as it comes. His recent blood tests have come back with very little improvement, the vets have now said there is nothing more than they can do for him.
He has no appetite so I’m using a syringe to get puréed baby food and water into him which he’s not always managing to keep down.
As he’s not eating he has no energy so we cannot go for walks. We are managing to go out walking using a pram as he’s very lethargic so he’s very sleepy. I am making the most of him each day, keeping him comfortable (he’s not in any pain) and getting lots of cuddles.
From the bottom of my heart Thankyou for the heartfelt messages and support it means so much x
