My name is Michelle and this is my nephew Jordan Gonzalez. My plea goes out to all of our family and friends and to our biker community as well. My husband and I have been life long motorcycle riders and many of you know us. Jordan, who just turned 22 last November, decided he'd like to be a biker too. Jordan is my sister Diane's son. He is an incredibly responsible young man who has been working since he was 16 and simultaneously went to VCU and pursued a career as a professional barber. He is now 22 and is a professional barber. He lives on his own in Richmond, VA.
Jordan recently bought a motorcycle (a starter bike Honda 600), took a safety in riding course and has been riding for 3 months. On August 27th he decided to take a leisurely ride on country roads to relax before work. He was going 45 mph and saw a car on his right stopped at a stop sign. He proceeded. Just as he approached, the woman in the car decided to advance into his lane. He had no time to prepare and hit her broadside. That's all he remembers.
As all of us as bikers know, this could happen to any of us at any point. Vehicles do not look out for motorcycles. Jordan in no way conributed to this event and the driver of the vehicle was at fault.
Jordan is in the hospital in Richmond, VA. He has sustained multiple injuries. He has a broken clavicle (collar bone), 3 fractured discs in his back, nerve damage in his arm and has damaged his kidney and liver from trauma. Jordan's internal injuries are being monitored and he is scheduled for surgery on his collar bone on Monday if he remains stable.
Please join me in donating money for Jordan's medical bills and his expenses during his medical leave and his extended recovery.
I will update as I receive medical updates.
Send prayers and all your love as well.
Thanks,
Michelle
