A few days before Christmas, I received a message from a neighbor asking for someone to take in their cat; it doesn't really matter why, these questions are asked of me so often that the reasons all blur together. I try to say yes as often as I can, but the holidays are the worst time in rescue; everyone is out of town, and fosters are few and far between even for the cats already in our care -- but when some kind folks reached out to my friend Lizzie offering to help, it gave us the opportunity to say yes to a family and a little lady in need.
And so, Bryce came into our lives. Little in body, biiiiig in personality. It couldn't have been a simpler rescue; she was thriving in foster care, was gearing up to meet her sweet foster brother, and even had a few folks interested in being her forever family.
We set to work, as we do, getting her vaccinated, treating for fleas and parasites, setting a date for her spay, and still all seemed fairly routine. But after her surgery, Bryce started to feel poorly. She was very agitated, she lost her appetite, she started to have diarrhea and vomiting. So, of course, we rushed her to the vet hoping for some answers for our sweet girl... but so far, we're still wondering.
We've done supportive care, x-rays, virus testing, and bloodwork, but if Bryce doesn't improve in 24-48 hours, we'll need to elevate our diagnostics and get an ultrasound done. I'm sharing the vet bills we've paid so far, and I'm hoping to raise a small cushion so we're able to confidently say "yes" to further testing without worrying about covering the costs. Any amount helps -- thank you so much for caring about our girl
