This is a fundraising page for Daniel Buck. He was diagnosed with AML--Acute Myeloid Leukemia, this past Monday, April 5. He has already started chemotherapy and is awaiting more test results to determine prognosis, although the team of doctors suspect from initial numbers that he has a subtype with higher risk factors and will require a bone marrow transplant.
Danny's treatment requires some lengthy in-patient care, so we are anticipating the possibility of quite some time in the hospital. Meanwhile, some needs have become apparent in the last few days.
The greatest need is to allow for Zenia to take a leave of absence from her job. She is currently trying to juggle the sudden and new roles of caregiver to Danny and single mom to Zoë and Charlie along with her full-time job. Because of the ongoing pandemic paired with Danny's increasingly vulnerable immune system due to chemo, Zenia is unable to receive much in-person help. This has become an overwhelming situation for her.
We are hoping to raise enough money to alleviate the financial burden of her going on leave, which will be unpaid, apart from the paid sick days structured into her FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), which she will quickly use up. We want money to be the last thing she has to worry about so that she can be fully present with Danny and their girls during these critical and important months. In addition, funds raised will also go towards any supplemental medical care, specified diet requirements, other related expenses, and future needs.
Thank you for all the prayers, texts, calls, meal deliveries, support, and other expressions of love being poured out on the Buck family. They are deeply moved and grateful.
We believe that God is sovereign and good and present, taking care of his beloved son and family. "Therefore do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body...For...your heavenly Father knows that you need them all" (Matt. 6:25-32).
