As you may know, on December 4th, we unexpectedly lost an amazing, beautiful soul, Jeffrey Rash, due to a tragic fall. He was only 42 years old. A doting husband, dedicated father, loving son, brother and friend, Jeffrey’s death is a profound loss for so many.
Jeffrey’s life was incredibly rich; he was a handsome, charming, smart, funny young man. He was passionate about sports especially the Ravens and Warriors, as well as music, travel and most of all his family. Constantly posting photos of his beautiful wife and best friend of 18 years, Ranjani, his remarkable daughter Lakshmi, almost 13, who shares his patience, quiet strength, and gentleness, as well as his wonderful 9 year old son Jonah, who inherited his fun spirit and competitive nature. He was the definition of a true family man. He made it a point to be physically active and impart the importance of being healthy to his children. He coached Jonah’s Lacrosse and Basketball teams. He and Lakshmi loved hiking and biking together. Jeffrey was an avid tennis player and loved playing “family tennis” on the weekends. If you were blessed enough to have known him well, you would know he was caring and sincere. When he asked how you were, he REALLY wanted to know. When he cared about someone, they KNEW it, they FELT it. If you needed his help, without hesitation, he GAVE it. Now his family needs yours.
Jeffrey was an incredibly capable and generous partner doing so many of the household and parenting tasks, he was a real renaissance man. He organized trips, grocery shopped, cooked, planned surprises, helped with homework, disciplined with compassion and patience, encouraged tolerance and open mindedness, provided comfort and words of encouragement...the list goes on and on because he was an unbelievably dedicated father who prioritized providing a loving and rewarding home life for his kids. Dads like that don’t come around often enough in this life and yet somehow Jeffrey made it seem effortless. It provided him with such happiness and joy. He was their protector and is simply gone too soon.
Happily married for 14 years, Ranjani, now a single mother, is left reeling from this unimaginable tragedy and must also shoulder the sadness of their two young children’s heartbreak. The unexpected loss of a husband and father is an extreme emotional and financial hardship.
It was his wish to be laid to rest alongside his cherished father and grandmother in his hometown of Baltimore. In January there will also be a service for all who knew and loved him in his beloved city of San Francisco.
Jeffrey and Ranjani have friendships that extend around the world, as both have cherished the deep connections they’ve fostered over the years. Many of you have shared your fond memories and words of kindness about Jeffrey and asked how you can help. Please take this opportunity to express your sympathies and condolences by making a generous donation in honor of Jeffrey’s life and urging others to do so as well. Removing the financial strain is an invaluable way to show your love and support for this family. Your generosity will have an immediate and lasting effect.
Thank you for taking the time to pay tribute to him and we encourage everyone to continue to share your love and memories on this page.
Jeffrey may you rest in peace. We miss you. We love you. We will never forget you.
