If you asked 5 year old Zuleika what she loves the most she would say her 3 older sisters and her baby brother. She has always brought sunshine to the lives of her family. Her joyful spirit and excitement for life is an inspiration to all – and now more than ever.

Last Sunday this family’s lives changed in an instant. Zuleika started to complain about severe pain in her ankles and to her parent’s dismay, began having problems standing up. As they took a closer look, they noticed tiny red dots forming around her ankles and rushed her to the ER. After a few hours of testing they broke the shocking and devastating news to her parents, Juan Carlos (Charlie) and Luciana -- Little Zuleika has Leukemia.

No one can prepare for news like this and although the doctors have assured them that they have caught the Leukemia early, they have rushed the chemo treatment in an effort to give her the best chance to beat this horrible diagnosis.

Now Zuleika will be admitted in the hospital for at least a month-possibly more. Her parents are now faced not only with the shattering news about their daughter, but they will now have to find a way to maintain a household and tend to the needs of all their kids while starting this frightening journey.
