Help Jordan fight Type-1 Diabetes
Donation protected
Jordan Asher Southerland was transported from the ER by ambulance to the PICU at Dell Children’ Hospital after falling into diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

After what initially looked like a stomach bug, due to labored breathing and fear of dehydration, Jordan was rushed to the ER where he was tested and diagnosed with early onset type-1 diabetes. While Jordan’s family is doing everything medically available to restore his health, they are also standing in faith for God to fully heal and reverse this diagnosis. Jordan has always been a vibrant healthy baby and is so loved by his family and church community. The Southerland's believe God is working all things including this diagnosis for GOOD and are confident that Jordan’s future is full of hope, destiny and purpose!
This campaign is focused on helping the family to raise financial support to cover the initial life-saving event costs, including the ER visit, ambulance transport, 2 days in ICU and 4 days in hospitalization at Dell Children's Hospital. The Southerland's honestly don’t know what the actual cost are just yet. Per conversations with other families that have gone through similar events, they were told to estimate between 80k- 100k. As soon as the family has actual costs, an updated breakout of expenses will be added to the go-fund-me page to explain where the funds are being distributed to. As the actual costs come in, the goal amount may change to be more accurate to the family's needs .
At the time of Jordan's emergency the Southerland’s found themselves caught in a gap without insurance due to a recent job layoff.

Jordan has to wear an insulin pump at all times and a blood glucose sensor, both inserted into his body that will be held in a fanny pack of sorts around his waist. Insulin has to be constantly matched to his glucose levels which fluctuate based on carbs eaten (required for his development and growth) as well as physical activity.
Throughout the day, Jordan’s meals have to be carb-counted and then insulin-dosed and injected after each meal based on blood sugar levels before the meal + adjustments for carbs eaten. If his blood sugar gets too low, hypoglycemia can occur. If too high, hyperglycemia. So far in the hospital, he has had swings both ways, which can be life threatening, especially on the low side (hypoglycemia).
Jordan Asher carries a special place in the family's heart as he was born following a previous miscarriage. He very much represents "the faithfulness and restoration of the Lord" for this family.
Other ways you can help…the Southerland family invites you to partner with them and God in prayer for Jordan’s complete healing and restoration of his pancreas function, all any auto-immune response to stop, as well as prayer for Jordans DVT (blood clot) to dissolve safely in his body. When the kingdom of God manifests on earth, miracles happen - pancreas can regenerate beta cells and begin functioning again; and blood clots can dissolve! Thank you for your love and support!!
