On Sunday, 12/3, little Hank was taken to the vet after he vomited and began breathing very rapidly. After a thorough examination of his lungs, they diagnosed Hank with aspiration pneumonia and placed him on IV antibiotics, fluids and placed him in an oxygen chamber. Hank's condition continued to worsen so he was transferred to Animal Medical Center to the ICU. To get Hank to AMC, his mom had to book an emergency pet ambulance so he could continue to receive oxygen during the transfer. At AMC, he was continued to receive IV antibiotics, fluids, xrays, nebulizer treatments, CBCs, arterial blood gas tests, viral swabs, etc. After reviewing the additional tests, the vets diagnosed Hank with infectious pneumonia, and he was moved to the infectious disease floor in isolation. Hank continues to receive treatment and remains in the oxygen chamber.
Earlier this year, Hanks's big brother, Hudson, was treated and crossed the rainbow bridge at this very same hospital. Hudson received a very late cancer diagnosis (he showed no signs until a week before) and had only a 5% chance of survival with chemo. However, Hudson developed an upper respiratory infection, which his body could not fight off, due to the cancer. His breathing become more labored with each day, and he was also placed in the ICU and oxygen chamber. He left his mom in 5 short days.
Hank came to his mom at time when she needed him most. He is the center of her world. He is the most fluffy, happy and adorable puppy!
Hank's medical bills are continue to mount and any help you could give would be so lovingly appreciated.
