Hi, My name is Martina Sejbal and I am raising funds for our friend Jiri Stribrsky "Knedlik" who passed away unexpectedly on Thursday 6/8/23.

Jiri was born 12/19/1956 in Usti Nad Labem in the Czech Republic. After graduating from high school he attended Culinary School which started his true passion in life which was cooking. Jiri’s love language was feeding and taking care of people through serving them fantastic creations he made in his kitchen. He owned several restaurants in the Czech Republic before coming to the United States in 1999. He continued his love for cooking through his whole life by cooking for his community in America. He also worked in construction in his earlier years and worked very hard to build a stable life for his family.

Jiri is survived by his soulmate Dana Turkova whom he spent his last 29 years with in Raleigh NC. His daughter Andrea whom he shared with Marta was the joy of his life. His Son-in-law Miroslav and grandchildren Mikulas and Natalka. His step sons David and Lukas. He also leaves behind his siblings Jaroslav, Hana and Petr.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jaroslav and Anna Stribrsky and his sister Anna Petranova.

Jiri was a man of many talents. He competed in a cooking competition in Russia when he was younger. He loved to play soccer and was on a team with his friends in his youth. He loved hockey and wouldn’t miss a game no matter what his schedule. He loved all animals and especially his dog Chip whom was with him for over a decade. He spent his later years at home in the quiet setting of his backyard feeding any animal and birds that came his way. His home was a place where people would come and visit and he enjoyed serving them beautifully made food that was pleasing to the eye and stomach. His hospitality was amazing and when visiting him you felt like part of his family. He was kind and compassionate and showed his love for you by taking care of you. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be help at Capital Funeral Home 2205 East Millbrook Road Raleigh NC on Wednesday 6/14/2023. Visitation will be at 3:00 and the service will be at 4:00. Dana and Andrea will receive visitors after the funeral at 2112 Charny Drive Raleigh NC.
