Jackie Judge is the life of the party. She goes by many names – Senator, Mama Judge, Miss Jackie, Fairy Godmother, and more. For more than 12 years Jackie has supported educators and OEA’s (sometimes unruly) political staff to make a big difference in the lives of Oregon students. She is an incredibly valued member of our community.

What Happened

Over the last month, instead of enjoying the beautiful Oregon summer, Jackie has faced scary, serious health challenges. On July 18th she went to urgent care after weeks of illness and was transferred via ambulance to the emergency room with a life-threatening infection. After a multi-day stay in the intensive care unit at Kaiser hospital, additional complications from her infection, and nearly two weeks in the hospital (so far – she is still there), she is feeling much better but faces a long road ahead to recover.

We all know that medical costs can be astronomical, let alone having to take unplanned time off of work. She is also facing the costs of preparing her home to be as safe and comfortable as possible when she is able to leave the hospital, and is planning at least a short duration of home healthcare support.

What You Can Do

You may have met Jackie at an event, picked up a political check from her for an important campaign, received a thoughtful handmade gift, laughed with her on the phone or been subject to her quick wit over the years. Certainly if you have ever met Jackie, you know her as a friend. Please help us support Jackie as she navigates this time of healing and recovery.
