Help Randy and Eddie Rebuild after Helene flooding

Meet Randy and Eddie two men who have worked hard making an honest living in construction and driving trucks. They live a simple retired life in mobile homes in Western North Carolina not far from the French Broad River.

How do Scott and I know these two men? Well, we moved to North Carolina about three months ago and life has been good. Our builder Joe, who is a local guy, and his crew have made great progress with building our new home.

Things changed drastically when torrential rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Helene capped off three days of extreme, unrelenting precipitation, which left catastrophic flooding and unimaginable damage in the Mountains and Foothills.

The widespread devastation surrounding us led Scott to ask Joe, who is entrenched in the community, if there was anything we could do to help. This is when Joe mentioned the names of his lifelong family friends, Randy and Eddie.

We met these two men who had to be evacuated from their mobile homes by water rescue teams during the brunt of the storm. They are good people who helped others during their day. Now they are the ones in need of help. Randy and Eddie can no longer live in their water damaged mobile homes where flood waters had reached about 5 feet. Joe (our builder) is doing his best to help the men he grew up with by summoning family members and some of his crew to remove the portions of the mobile homes that are not salvageable moving quickly to prevent mold. For Joe to continue to restore the two mobile homes he needs supplies like lumber, plywood, flooring, cabinets, and other materials.

This is where we kick in! Let’s supply Randy and Eddie with the funds they need to purchase the construction materials for both mobile homes and items they desperately need such as mattresses, furniture and appliances.

We know Randy’s and Eddie’s story is one of many in this horrific act of nature, but it is the small pieces of the puzzle that make up the whole. We can help put the puzzle back together.
