Hi, my name is Vic. Sorry this is a long read but please stick with me.
I am trying to raise money to get rocky neutered so he can find a new home. I am not the owner but the owners cannot be trusted with money. I plan to take him into the vet myself when I raise the funds. I have the owner permission to do all of this aswell. If you would like to possibly adopt rocky please reach out to me through my socials. The rest of the funds will go to getting the stray cats in town fixed aswell. I work with a small group of girls who trap cats and get them fixed.
Rocky is a neglected dog. His mom loves him but due to her mental health and addiction issues she has come to the reality that she cannot take care of him properly. He is left chained to a tree most days. He often digs under, jumps and goes through the fence to escape when let off. (He wants to find a girlfriend) People in town are very unhappy about him constantly getting out and have called the police to put rocky down as he growls and barks at them and there kids. I feel fixing him will help the escaping problem as he will not be seeking a mate anymore. I also believe fixing him will make him more appealing to adopt or foster. I’ve had a few interested but turned him down partly due to not being fixed.
He is a boarder collie mix so he has a lot of energy and hormones due to not being fix. He is a very nervous and reactive dog if feeling threatened. He barks and growls when approach but does gain trust with some treats. Rocky hasn’t had an easy life. He has been abused and neglected. One time when he was out a cop pepper sprayed him because rocky was growling at him. The cop had no idea how to catch a dog or what he was doing. Due to this Rock is even more fearful and reactive to people’s body language than he originally was.
Rocky is very young dog only 2 and just needs a proper shot at life and some training. His owners aren’t in the right mental state to take on this task. I’ve gotten to know rocky as I’m the only one in town who can catch him other than his mom. Most people are scared of him but he is really a different dog when I get him on the leash. Once on leash he will gladly hop in ur vehicle and give you kisses from the backseat. He also seems to think he is a lap dog and does these nose dives on me while I pet him. He loves a good belly rub and butt scratch. He also has human sibling who are very young in age and I’ve witnessed him be great with them. He loves his mom dearly aswell. Rocky is a very cute and silly dog. He is just untrained and reactive. He is very young and I believe whole heartedly he CAN be trained. He just needs a proper shot at it with a good, experienced owner.
im hoping by getting him spayed he will be more appealing to foster or adopt. I’m not sure how much it is to spay as it’s different depending on the vet you go to. Although, whatever is left over will go to all the stray cats here in town. We have a cat problem aswell but the community has taken steps into helping them stay warm and fed.
Rocky on the other hand is still living a life of neglect and abuse and possibly facing being put down :(
Please share or skip a coffee for Rocky and donate 5$. Give Rocky the shot he deserves
