Zambia Girls, Football Club

Donation protected
My perspective on my part in this team is to mainly and especially offer them as much support as I possibly can. The heroes in this situation are the girls trying to overcome the obstacles, who I will always learn from every single day. Coach Stephan Chanda, the coach who works with the girl in Zambia, is one of the greatest role models I have to this day that is doing the heavy-duty work down there. He has built something beautiful out of very little. I thank Coach Brian, and my sister, Cara Bordwell for creating this opportunity for me and pushing me to do it. I thank my parents, particularly my father who has been nothing but supportive and has helped me in every way imaginable throughout this whole process. I am doing what I can do and that is offering support where it is needed, fundraising to the fullest extent possible, and being the best person I can be, so a role model is there for all of these young women. I have created training videos for these girls, written them letters, taught them everything I know about the world from my perspective, and am raising funds for them in every way possible, but that cannot happen without the kindness of all of you, so I thank you--from the people who have already donated to those who will offer support in the future, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. What separates this cause from the rest are the young women in Zambia, each their own person, each with amazing possibilities for the future, and the inspiring coaches working with them each and every day. Once again, thank you!

In the summer of 2019,  my 15-year-old twin sister and I went to Zambia Africa to help teach soccer and music to improve young girl's exposure to organized programs. My role was to teach the girls the basics of soccer, teach ball-handling skills, and lead them through practice drills they will be able to use after I have left.

Starting in the 8th grade, I have been a starter for my varsity soccer team, where I was the leading scorer and received All-League recognition. In my Freshman year, I won All-League, and my Sophomore year, I won All-League, All-Section, ranked top 10, and won player of the league. I am also a member of Manhattan Soccer Club. Many girls in Zambia were able to see me as someone to look up to, who was committed to improving at every practice, and that it is possible for girls to play and excel in any type of sport.

After a week of day-long training and practice sessions, I had a chance to play a scrimmage with the male coaches. Afterward, I was approached by Coach Steven, who asked me in recognition for

they could name a football club after me, recognizing me as the first women to go there specifically to work with their groups from CareSports Foundation.

When I arrived, all of the girls were playing in bare feet and house clothes with no access to proper soccer gear. As a result, the support I am able to offer so far has helped provide proper practice and game uniforms, soccer boots, shin guards, and other basic equipment.

The Ella Bordwell Queens FC  had their first official game on December 21st, 2019, in which the real win was they were competing in an organized sport as a team, with proper gear. However, they are still in great need of medical insurance, practice gear, training equipment, etc. I want to continue supporting their hard work and dedication the best that I can.

My goal $3500. If we reach this, we will be making a huge difference in these girls' daily life and perspective on the world. We need the funds as soon as possible in order to pay for equipment, renting the practice facility, and the expenses of traveling to compete. Thank you for anything you can afford to give! Every dollar raised will go directly to the CareSports Foundation and dedicated to supporting the Ella Bordwell Queens FC.
