Angelo’s Road to Recovery
Hi, My name is Alyssa Pleotis. I am fundraising for my father-in-law, Angelo Pleotis. On Wednesday, July 27, around 7:00 pm, an SUV drove through his home in Crystal Lake. The vehicle went through the garage before becoming airborne and crashing into his house, hitting him while he was in it.
He was airlifted to Condell Hospital in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries; by miracle, he is still alive. He suffered collapsed lungs, broken ribs, head trauma, lacerations and 2 spinal fracture/dislocations, which has caused paralysis. He is currently still in the ICU being monitored.
I want to help give back to one of the kindest, most gentle-hearted people I’ve ever met. Angelo was planning many outdoor adventures and travels in the near future. He was very active in my daughter’s (his granddaughters) activities and life.
Also, his daughter is getting married in a month and now won’t likely be able to attend and won’t be able to walk her down the aisle as planned. He didn’t deserve any of this. He has had his entire life flipped upside down in the one place he should feel the safest - his own home.
On top of this, our Uncle, who was living with him, has been displaced and almost all possessions need to be replaced.
Angelo will need so much help; this is just the start of the long road ahead. Rehab, doctors bills, home modifications, relocation, specialty treatments etc.
Please help him and my family through this traumatic time. Anything helps, thank you.
