Making Changes for Life is dedicated to assisting teens and families in their daily struggles with anxieties. 1 in 12 teens self-harms and the number is on the rise.
Making Changes is helping others to make better choices and to achieve better mental health. Not only do we help teens, but we also help the parents, caregivers and families through personal life coaching, teaching how to look for triggers and better coping skills. Assisting with communication in the families helps to create a safe and trusting atmosphere for our teens so they know they can rely on their families for help. But also gives the families the tools they need to assist with someone in their family who may be struggling. We also want to reach out to schools to assist with the stresses students deal with which can cause anxieties and depression which can lead to self-harm.
For some, self-injury can rapidly get rid of tension and other bad feelings. But just like drugs or alcohol, self-injury provides a quick fix having physical consequences. Self-injury is a habit which can last into adulthood which makes this even more important and crucial that teens learn safe, healthy, effective coping strategies so they can deal with anxiety and stress appropriately into adulthood. Catching anxiety and depression as early as possible can save someone years of suffering.
We are a not for profit organization and we are dedicated to our cause. We are driven by our own past experiences. The monies we raise will assist in:
- educational projects
- allow teens and families to receive the needed help for free
- recreational projects for our teens to keep them active
- group retreats and trips to promote healthy life skills
- community awareness
- the beginnings of a retreat for teens and families to come too and receive help
1 in 12 teens suffer from self-harm daily, suffer from anxiety, depression and the feeling of loneliness and despair. There are not enough programs to assist them all and waiting list are what a lot of families and teens are up against when looking for help. This project needs to grow, needs to spread and needs to show teens they are not alone, that they are not a name on a list waiting for help.
