Westford Fire Adams family recovery

News coverage from the morning of the fire
Everyone's nightmare: the house catches fire in the middle of the night.  Except it's not a bad dream, it's real.

Our house in Westford caught fire around 4am Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016. Middle child is away at college, so most of those important belongings are there, and Liz lives part of the time in Medford, so a lot of her stuff is there.  But oldest and youngest (ages 25 and 18) lost pretty much all their material possessions.  We lost my late husband's papers and all our family photo albums, an entire office-full of design and art books and materials, luggage, holiday ornaments, several laptops, music, my grandmother's small piano, clothes, books, soft furniture, food - still sorting it out.

The people are all safe and unharmed, and our dog and cat made it out, too, thanks to oldest child's heroism.  The house itself was covered by insurance, but the contents were not.

What funds are for:
- salvage, recovery, and storage of furniture items and appliances that can be saved - immediate need
- replacement of mattresses and non-salvageable furniture, appliances, and fixtures - when the house is rebuilt (probably a couple of months)
- food and clothing - ongoing need because the weather keeps changing!
- saving what books we can and replacing books we need to replace - ongoing
- utility reconnection costs
