    Jimmy Gaiarin lost his painting company on October 4, 2017 from a serious accident. Jimmy fell from a ledge, breaking his left tibia/fibula/ankle and right heel and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. He started with a fasciotomy to his left leg, due to compartmental syndrome. He required immediate surgery that evening, where they put hardware (screws and plates) on his broken tibia/fibula/ankle and screws for the broken right heel. Then after surgery fracture blisters surfaced and multiple blood clots in both lungs, hospitalizing Jimmy again for another 16 days.
After all that trauma, Jimmy then came home to a hospital bed for 3 months because he was non weight bearing. Here we are a year since Jimmy fell and his tibia was still broken and wouldn’t heal. We had to move from British Columbia back to Windsor Ontario (Jimmy’s hometown) and he is currently living with his sister-in-law and her family.
His new surgeon in Windsor removed the old hardware (screws and plates) from the first surgery, replacing with a rod inside the tibia bone to stabilize and unionize the leg. The nerve damage in his lower leg is the most pain at this time. Once the leg is rehabbed, he will then require ankle and knee surgery. The surgeon estimates recovery at close to another year if not longer.
This is the hardest struggle this family has ever had to go through. With no income coming in since last October, Jimmy has depleted his savings trying to keep up with monthly bills. Jimmy being a war veteran has the motivation and mindset to over come these obstacles.
