Dear family and friends,
This May, I will be traveling to Guangzhou, China for a two month mission trip, and I greatly need both financial and spiritual support.
God gave me the idea of going on a mission trip to China in 2011. At the time, I was on a four month mission trip to Kenya, and had no inclination to travel overseas again. I thought I heard the Lord tell me to go to China after college, though, so I wrote the thought down and quickly forgot about it. Fast forwarding to my sophomore year at Regent University, God gave me a heart and gifts to lead a Life Group with the Campus Ministries department. The Lord also began stirring my heart to teach English overseas. During an unexpected encounter, some missionaries invited me on a summer mission trip to China. While seeking God’s will about the trip, I felt led to wait for the right time, but He provided so much confirmation that I was supposed to go. I re-read my Kenya journal and found the before-mentioned entry which I had completely forgotten about. This January, a friend invited me to help her teach Sunday School at a Chinese-American church—which I have loved. For the last two years, I have been waiting for the right time and opportunity, and God has finally provided it. In May, I will embark with a small team under the organization ChinaLIFT.
For the first month, my team and I will be working with Guangzhou Grace Academy—a nonprofit Chinese school. The seven of us will teach various classes such as English, writing, drama, art, and more. We will also lead a weekly youth group and do street evangelism. Then we will travel to a rural, mountain community for the second half of the trip. We will lead three different camps for international and Chinese students, providing love and encouragement on an individual level.
While we have already purchased plane tickets, we are still fundraising. I know God will provide for all of our needs, and if the Lord puts it on your heart to sow into this mission, please do.
