"I just CAN'T wait to get outside in one of those Action Trackchairs!!" ~ Bampa
Bampa had an opportunity to demo the Action Trackchair today! What a ride...ohhhhh....what a ride!
(Like a little boy on Christmas morning!!! )
Thank you for your financial donations...we are getting there...Bampa is READY for mobility...it is seven months overdue!!
We want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read our story about our Bampa...aka our dad, Paul Burhans!
For those of you who have not had the opportunity to meet our dad in person, please take a moment to watch the video above. It will give you a quick glimpse of a very BIG picture into the life and heart of a man we are proud to call our dad. We love him more than words can say and that is why we are taking the time to share his story with you.
In September, 2014, our dad suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. It was a devastating blow to our family, but even more so to him. As a forester with International Paper Company, he spent much of his life outside and that is where he has always thrived most. In more recent years, he spent time running His Own Crane Service out of Brooksville, FL and even more recently, he spent years investing life and hope into the lives of others at His Thousand Hills Christian Camp in Wellsboro, PA.
Our dad has always LOVED being outside and being active. He thoroughly enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and some of his favorite activities, prior to the injury, included gardening, taking hikes in the woods, walks up the stream on his property and just being outside...any time of the year!
After the injury, he underwent emergency surgery and spent six additional weeks in the hospital in physical therapy in hopes to regain the use of his legs. Seven LONG months have passed and the nerves in his spine just are not waking up as quickly as he needs them to, as
our dad has also been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.
With spring literally upon us, our dad's greatest desire is to walk again, but if that can't happen today, he just wants to be mobile….OUTSIDE!! Sadly, a standard wheelchair will not provide him with the mobility he needs to do the things that he loves most on the rugged terrain of his property. Aside from fighting the cancer, what he feels most strongly about is making the most of each and every day he has and he wants to do that outside of the hospital bed in his room and outside in the spring and summer sun!
This appeal is about fulfilling a desire that comes from deep within our dad's heart to genuinely enjoy the creation the Lord has blessed him with in the upcoming weeks and months with an Action Trackchair. http://www.actiontrackchair.com
For those of you who have been following our dad's adventure on Our Bampa on Facebook, you know that our parent's home is literally over the creek and through the woods, so an all terrain Action Trackchair is what he truly needs to allow him to have the best mobility, outside, at his home. All of us have hope and the thought of being able to simply get outside when the snow melts gives our dad hope. Our Bampa thrives outside!
Our dad, age 70, has filled the tall order of being a godly, faithful and courageous husband to our mom and father to three daughters. We need to make this happen as soon as possible. Time is priceless everyday, but even more so these days.
We thank you in ADVANCE for the intentional gift of time you are giving our dad in even reading through this page and considering a donation of any size. No gift is too small. PLEASE share this with others that you feel may like to see it or may have know our dad through the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
With sincere thanks from three daughters who never thought their father would age…

"Enjoy the little things in life, for someday you will look back and realize they were the big things!" Robert Brault
Wow, how we often take the little things for granted. About the time I (Bampa's middle born) was grumbling under my breath (regretfully) this afternoon because I had to unload my groceries in the rain, this is what my beloved dad was doing...
Post from my mom's FB wall this evening..."Dad was outside on the porch from 12:30 til 5:30 tonight. He had his dinner outside. At one point, I got a glimpse of him letting the rain drops hit his face...wow, we sure take things for granted! He had a great day...just enjoying the day the Lord had made!"
