Fresh Start 2026 - A Place To Call HOME
I’ll give the quick| short version. I was in a 7/8 year relationship. We met and fell in love in Huntington Beach. He was offered a job up in Yucca Valley, so I ended up transferring my job up to Yucca Valley. I got sepsis, which seemed like it took me forever to recover from. I started going to college while recovering in several nursing facilities. I ended up switching from a community college to online due to COVID, hospitalizations, and nursing facilities. Then, I fell and broke my left ankle. I started getting sick with symptoms like vision issues, numbness, tingling, and weakness. His family came down to help, but I continued to get worse. My mom flew in and took me to Loma Linda Hospital. After a gnarly workup, I was diagnosed with GBS (Guillain-Barré Syndrome).
Last year, after having numerous flare-ups while visiting my mom in AZ, I was diagnosed with CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy), which I’ll have for the rest of my life. I have to go every 3-4 weeks to get a 2-day IVIG infusion. I’m still needing surgery to fix my ankle. Most surgeons have declined to fix my ankle due to the risks with having GBS/CIDP, which has been heartbreaking for me as I’m tired of having to use a wheelchair/walker to get around daily. I took a break from college, knowing I’m 2 classes shy of my Associate's Degree. I’ve been told I can achieve my Bachelor’s Degree while starting law school this January.
THE ONLY THING STOPPING ME IS BEING HOMELESS!!! I’ve literally been living in motels, nursing facilities, shelters, etc. All I wanted for Christmas was a place to call HOME!!! I’ve been trying to rent rooms because I’m on a limited income (SSI). I’ve tried my best doing it alone! I seriously need housing to get my ankle fixed and out of my wheelchair. I miss having a normal life.
