Hi, I'm Gail Smith (aka Granny G) of Somebody's Grandmother. The main purpose of Somebody's Grandmother, a nonprofit organization, is to educate, motivate, empower, and engage young people in our communities. Bits, Bites, and Bigga Bites is the vehicle we have used to date to raise funds for the activities of Somebody's Grandmother. However, steps are being taken to make Bits, Bites, and Bigga Bites a separate entity in the future. As such, it can become a means of providing employment and entrepreneurial training for a young person or some young people.
Recently an opportunity was presented to sell our delicious hand pies made from dried fruit at a farmer's market near home. Naturally, at first I was all over it but I soon realized that since I've not done this before, I have none of the equipment--tent, weights, display cases, banners, signage, tables, and chairs--necessary for us to take advantage of this opportunity.
In case you don't know, the funds previously raised by Somebody's Grandmother from selling hand pies covered things like printing, website development, filing fees, fees associated with applying for our 501(c)(3) tax exemption, and, of course, supplies to make our pies. These supplies include dried peaches from central California, since I could find no local source, and other ingredients.
Being the resourceful person that I am (as executive director I'm not afraid of hard work) we have managed to come this far but, we need your help to go further. I'm not quite sure what we can offer you in exchange for your support and help besides pies but, I am certain we'll think of something to offer should you decide to help us in this venture.
Besides the pies made from dried peaches, we intend to add pies made from dried apples, and from sweet potatoes. Some of you have experienced our fried hand pies and know that they are pretty to look at and they taste, perhaps, even better than they look. A lot of love goes into making them and EVERYONE who has eaten the pies tells me that the pies evoke fond memories of their mother or grandmother making them for their families.
The folks who are developing our website, while they are doing a great job, are not quite on point with what it is we need from the website. Incidentally, the website is only recently back online. These events are a little frustrating for me but, mercifully, the chance to take part in the upcoming seasonal venue outweighs even a bum website.
I know you probably have requests for help from all corners but, I certainly hope that as we reach out to you that you will tell somebody who will tell somebody about what it is we purpose to do, not only in our community but in communities everywhere there are people who are striving to do better and to be better.

In advance for your thoughtful generosity, THANK YOU!
