Hi my name is Cassie, and I volunteer with a local animal rescue here in Arizona. I’m reaching out on behalf of someone who’s in urgent need — a mom named Celeste who’s doing everything she can to keep her little family together.
I saw a post in our rescue’s volunteer Facebook group from someone looking for a temporary foster for their service dog. I reached out to get more info so I could help find a foster — and when I spoke to Celeste, I learned the full story. It broke my heart.
Celeste is a 54-year-old single mother battling terminal brain cancer. She has a 9-year-old son with special needs (autism and ADHD). After being hospitalized with COVID in February, she fell 2.5 months behind on rent and was locked out of her apartment by the sheriff. With no shelters available and no local resources, Celeste, her son, and their dog spent the night on the street.
She’s not asking for much — just a safe place to land while she gets back on her feet.
Since I work in real estate, I reached out to my network of investors and agents and found a kind person offering their rental at a discounted day rate: $66/day ($2,000/month). Celeste has returned to work and is being paid weekly — she just needs a little help covering the first few days so she and her son can stay together and stay off the streets.
✨ Our Goal: $1,000 will help Celeste and her son:
- Stay safely together with their dog, instead of being separated
- Avoid sleeping on the streets
- Bridge the gap until her first few paychecks come in
If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If not, simply sharing this link could still make a life-changing difference. Let’s show Celeste and her son that they’re not alone.
