Hi my name is Joshua Bullis. My wife is Sarah Bullis, and I'm raising money to pay for my her cancer treatment.

On June 9th my wife was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She's only 26 and there is no history of breast cancer in her family. We have no idea how this happened. We were shocked by the diagnosis and so were the doctors. We hadn't expected to have to face cancer ever, much less while we were still so young. We are completely unprepared, and after only one month of treatment our savings are already almost half depleted.

Over the past month everything changed for us drastically and very rapidly. On June 10th we spent the whole day in the oncology ward at the U of L Hospital where they talked to us non-stop for six hours, telling us how our lives were going to look for the next six to seven years. They told us she will need five months of chemo before surgery, followed by seven months of radiation and then estrogen blockers for at least five years. They told us she will lose her hair within the next month, she will most likely gain a lot of weight from having her ovaries shut down, and we will most likely never be able to have children.

We moved to Louisville shortly before the pandemic hit. We thought we would make friends in this exciting new city, but it's not really possible to get out and meet people during quarantine. My coworkers here have been wonderful in offering their support, but our families both live far away and we still have no friends in the area other than my coworkers, who can only do so much. While she is on chemo my wife cannot drive herself to the hospital, and as her primary care-giver I can expect to miss a lot of work as I take her to each of her appointments. Sarah has had to scale back her job too.

We need your help. Neither of us are very good at asking for help but now we really need it. Like I said above, our savings are not going to get us very far. Most months we've barely squeaked by, and that was before the cancer. Your donations will help pay for Sarah's chemo, the many tests she has to have taken, the many doctor visits, and the expenses from making the apartment cancer-patient-friendly, and they will help cover the unpaid time we will both have to take off from work.
