Help Simba Get The Care He Needs

Hi, my name is Layla and I'm sharing my cousins dog, Simba's story on behalf of her. Maya works 2 jobs while in full-time nursing school and is supporting herself and Simba financially. Simba is a 4 year-old bully breed who Maya loves dearly. Simba is not just a pet, he's Maya's baby and she does everything in her power to ensure he has the best life.
Over the past week, Simba has been extremely lethargic, dehydrated, and hasn't been eating. She noticed blood in his urine and his stool. After taking Simba to various vets, it has been revealed to us after multiple tests that he contracted Leptospirosis. For those who don't know, Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial infection that can affect dogs, humans, and other animals. It’s caused by bacteria found in water or soil that’s been contaminated with the urine of infected animals—like raccoons, rodents, or other wildlife. Dogs can get sick by drinking or swimming in contaminated water, or even just walking through it with small cuts on their paws.
Once infected, Leptospirosis can spread quickly through the body, causing damage to the kidneys, liver, and other organs. Without treatment, it can be life-threatening, especially if not caught early.
Additionally, it caused structural damage to his kidneys and elevated his liver enzymes due to inflammation and organ dysfunction. It also caused his abdominal lymph nodes to enlarge bigger than his kidneys as part of the body’s immune response.
Maya has used up all of her savings trying to cover the cost of care but due to the severity of this infection, she can no longer maintain the cost of medical care and is looking for any additional support. If you cannot donate, prayers are also much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read Simba's story.
