Please Help Save Rocky Point
Aloha everyone!
This is Todd Dunphy. I'm a long-time North Shore resident, a five time Karate World Champion, actor, stuntman, and most of the time, a fun guy. I'm reaching out to all my friends and ohana because of my struggle to pay for ridiculously high fines that frankly, are unaffordable. As of today the fines from the DLNR have accumulated to over $107,000 with a running fee of $2,000 per day. Not to mention the attorney fees-($250,000 retainer) and environmental surveys cost approximately $100,000 per survey.
Also, I'm trying to raise this money for the public and private beach front home owners to receive dire work that needs to be done because our current status is destroying the beaches and we have no financial help at all.
Many of you remember the nightmare that was February 28, 2022, when Rocky Point was slaughtered by huge surf swells creating chaos beyond repair. Unfortunately my home was not exempt from the fatalities. Instinctively when I heard this swell was coming in I put up sandbags, tarps, etc. like all of my neighbors to preserve our property and homes. That's what a man does to protect his family and livelihood. He doesn’t negotiate with an association whether he should or should not save his life's work and family jewel, he just gets up and does it.
You know the American dream has always been to buy a home and raise your family in your home. I am blessed with a daughter and five grand kids who I love endlessly. This is our legacy. This is my hard work that paid off and what I have to show for my life's effort. It's horrifying to think all of this could be taken away from me because of a winter swell and debris that's left on the beach.
The grievances I’m experiencing because of this financial debt is putting a choke hold on me. At this time I ask for a little love and support from those who understand and empathize with my plight. If you can give and share, I offer you respect and gratitude beyond words.
Much aloha,
Todd
