Help Jay Overcome Medical Challenges

My name is Kevin Horn and I’ve been friends with Jay since the Marine Corps days in 2002.

on September 14th, 2024, Jay had a stroke.

Update 9/24: Jay should be released this weekend. His mobility is good and his speech is improving every day. We still have a long road ahead but all signs point to an optimistic end result. Physically he’s doing amazing though.

Thank you to everyone who has come by and reached out , it’s all really helped him.

He will be staying with us temporarily until he is ready. If you want to send anything like get well cards or well wishes , message me and I’ll provide the address.

currently he is in CMC main in the ICU and not out of the woods yet, but they found a clot and removed it. I don’t have any more details than that right now. I will update this page as we move forward.

He’s got a long road ahead of him and I’m hoping this go fund me can take financial burden off of Jay and his parents.

The medical bills will keep coming so what ever you can spare will help.

UPDATE:Sept 20th

he has made tremendous progress. We are working on logistics for his return to home to continue his rehab.

He is making all kinds of progress walking, the right are is still a bit of an issue but it’s coming along. His speech is getting better but that’s kind of slowed progress for now, But in the mornings he’s better.

the next two weeks is aggressive OT/PT sessions for two hours a day.

I’ll have more updates if anything changes.

First and foremost, THANK YOU!

I never expected so many donations and this will help SO much. We found out today he doesn’t have insurance so words can’t express how much this will help.

Dr says he’s in a good spot for recovery. They haven’t found the reason. They think he was in the car around an hour or two but they don’t know for sure. but at this point it’s irrelevant. Still waiting on echo results. Good on blood work that has come back so far. Dr is very optimistic on his speech returning .

UPDATE : Sept 15th, 7:30pm

Basic update it’s not much:

He can't talk. He's awake and has facial expressions, you can see his words in his eyes that he is trying to get something out, but his body won't let him. Paralyzed on the whole right side. He moved his right leg slightly , so it’s slow improvement but improvement.

from talking with the nurse, Plan of care hasn’t changed and won’t change once we look at the MRI.

As much as he’s progressed today, she thinks he’ll get moved out of ICU in the next day or so.

They’ll monitor him here and then release him to a facility which will be inpatient.

She said Monday will be busier since the docs are only on call on the weekend. So that’s why we haven’t had much movement today.
