Odyssey of the Mind MoldovaCimislia

Growing up in Moldova, taught me a lot of things. If I were to choose three main things: I would say patience, humbleness, and hard work.
15 years ago, I had the opportunity to participate in the National Odyssey of the Mind and our Team from Cimislia, got in 1st place from the entire country.
I remember how BIG that was for us!!! It opened up my mind, it made me realize that “Yes, dreams do come true with hard work and dedication! “Ever since, I’ve kept the attitude of “Dare to Dream Big!”
We went to the European Competition in Oberhambah, Germany in 2000; but we couldn’t have gone to Germany, without the support of our U.S.A. Peace Corp Volunteer and Couch-Bob from Chicago, who found sponsors to pay for our Bus Trip to Europe.
A few days ago, I was approached by Tatiana Cobileanschi (daughter of Claudia Echimovna – French teacher from Mihai Eminescu School #3), to share the good news. Our Team from Cimislia, won the National Odyssey of the Mind this year and is now invited to participate in the World Finals right here in USA!!! (Michigan State).
Unfortunately, as you all know the financial situation in Moldova, the families of these young students cannot afford to pay for the airline tickets. Tatiana along with her other Co-worker Rodica Orlov, are doing what they can ( selling Pop-corn at school, reaching out to local government agencies, and local business-owners to raise funds), but they also need our help.
Today, I am reaching out to all of my Moldovans in USA and my American Friends:
Let’s make these students dream come true, by helping them participate in the World Finals Odyssey of the Mind Michigan. Any amount will help tremendously!
Target goal? $4,200 ($600/per student)
Target date? April 30th
The competition is on May 18th, so the earlier they purchase the tickets- the better deals they will find.
I know that we all have our lives, expenses, and responsibilities here in USA but any amount (even as little as $20 will add up).
Let’s show our support forMoldova Team: Cimislia- our home, sweet home!
Have a terrific day!
Kindest Regards,
Alina Corbeanu
