On March 21, the world lost a wonderful mother, daughter, sister and friend at the young age of 44. Hyacinth Cunningham collapsed at church and couldn't be revived. She is survived by her three children, including 13-year-old Dana, and a vast network of family and friends in Brooklyn and Jamaica.
Hyacinth's sister Wendy says this tragedy feels like a cruel prank to see how we would all get along if she weren't here. Her community looked to her as a leader and she was a constant presence at the Church of God of East Flatbush. She was the one who took care of the babies, danced and planned parties, and cooked and cleaned for those in need. And she would do it all while looking fabulous -- she loved a fancy dress and a flower in her hair.
Hyacinth was a rock for her family, her church and her friends. Now it's time for us to give back to Hyacinth. Please consider donating to help Dana and the family members who will be taking care of her. Your donations will go toward covering their expenses and securing Dana's future.
