We would like to introduce to you Sarah, Brian and Lyla.
An amazing family whose course in time will forever be changed following a near fatal incident on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County , Georgia.
Sarah Michelle Wood - 33 is a mother, fiancée, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend to many. She has overcome many challenges in her life and those who know her best would say that she is "Strong and Passionate", “Full of Life" and she "finds joy in the simple things in life". She loves helping people feel beautiful and would have been an amazing Make-up Artist.
On April 1, 2019, Sarah was on her way home from work driving on Interstate 85. Just before 5:30pm her life changed forever. She was the driver of the Kia Sorento the Gwinnett County police officer rear ended just past the Old Peachtree exit. She was unresponsive at the scene and taken to Gwinnett Medical in critical condition.
Sarah is still in the ICU in Serious condition with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Once she is stable enough she will be transferred to an LTAC (Long Term Acute Hospital) to begin the baby steps of recovery.
Her fiancée, Brian Boozer, has been amazingly strong for their daughter, Lyla, who is a Mommy's Girl. Brian is staying very positive for Sarah's recovery and is always by her side throughout this tragic event. Unfortunately, Brian is unemployed, not by his choice. It’s because he is completely deaf. He prefers labor type jobs, warehouse, landscaping, etc. and companies are always reluctant to hire due to the concern with safety.
Sarah is always willing to go out of her way to help others and now she needs your help.
Sarah has profound hearing loss and relies on the use hearing aids and sign language to communicate. Due to the impact of the collision her hearing aids were damaged in the accident. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover any of the cost. Her hearing aids cost between $5,000 - $6,000 dollars. We are asking for your help to purchase her a new set as they will assist in her recovery.
Sarah, Brian and Lyla's home is in Hoschton, Ga. To help reduce some of their stress we are asking for your help to ensure her mortgage and utility bills are paid for at least a year, knowing her recovery will be much longer.
Please continue to pray for a full recovery. Sarah has an extremely long road to recovery with respiratory, physical, occupational and speech therapies.
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Gwinnett County Police officer and several other drivers were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 during the early evening commute Monday. Sarah's vehicle was one of the primary vehicles in this accident.
