Hi,

My name is Ava and I’m 22 years old.

A year ago, I was living an apartment, had a full time job, and a decent income. On the outside, it looked perfect. On the inside, though, I felt like I was drowning. I would have flashbacks even while I was at work, yet I would pretend that I was fine.

Then, something happened and I became extremely depressed. I didn’t get out of bed for a full month, besides to eat once a day. I would sleep all day and be up all night. I had to quit my job because I just couldn’t work anymore.

Then, after a month, someone sent me to the hospital. After the hospital, I realized that I couldn’t go back to my old life, pretending like everything was fine. I had to move. Then I found an amazing organization called Areivim. They have a dorm, amazing staff, and they’re a great support system for me.

After another hospital stay, I ended up in an intensive outpatient program. It’s three times a week, which means that I cannot get a job.

Technically, it may seem like I can just get a side job, but I am in no position for a job right now.

In order for me to really heal from everything I’ve been through as a child, I really need to put my all into it. IOP along with trauma therapy brings up a lot. Intense memories, painful emotions… Healing is great. The problem is though, I have no money. All of my savings from when I had a job are gone.

I need money for hanging out with friends, for gas, for my monthly payments on my car, and really just to live.

In the future, I want to be able to build myself up and make a life for myself.

In addition, with you’re contribution, you will help me attain my long term goal as well, which is helping people recover from mental illness by removing the fear based stigma of healing by sharing my journey openly and encouraging the process of getting better by advocating for mental health for the youth and elders as well.

I hate being vulnerable and asking for money, but at some point, you gotta do what you gotta do.
