Hello! My name is Christine.

I am 48 years old, and was diagnosed with an agressive form of lobular breast cancer, 9 months ago. I've recently completed 5 long months of chemotherapy and am currently awaiting a call from hospital to schedule a date for a full mastectomy.

I had no idea of how long the treatments would be, and as a result, am struggling financially as I had to stop working last October....I am far from out of the woods as realistically will not be able to return to work before November, due to the convalescence between my surgery and the radiation treatments I will have to undergo, post surgery. Radiation itself will be full time Monday to Friday for a duration of approximately 6 weeks, and this won't happen until 6 to 8 weeks after my 4 to 6 weeks recovery period from the surgery.

I've had to apply for social assistance as my medical EI has run its course. I already was paying out of pocket from my savings in order to make ends meet every month because EI was insufficient, and now on social assistance, will struggle even more so. I do not wish to end up in great debt, as a result of my life threatening illness.

Sadly, I don't have any disability insurance with work, so I find myself here, having to ask for some support to get through the next few months of my treatments, in hopes of being able to make ends meet..

Simply, I am needing to set my pride aside and ask for help....

It is just me and my two fur babies; Scotty and Maisie. Thank goodness for their company during this stressful process in my life. Not working since October has not been easy...

I have always worked hard for what I have and have rarely needed to rely on anyone to survive. My friends tell me I have always been pretty cheerful and have had a ready to laugh to make jokes attitude when a world of crap is raining down on me and I always try to find the silver linings.
