Ronald Fox is my uncle. He served in the US navy from 1979-1983. He has lived a hard long road growing up in Queens NY to an Italian mother and an Irish father. Times were hard...always. Uncle Ronnie has lost a lot in his life. His wife and the love of his life Judy in 2004 to an aggressive and unexpected cancer. He lost his son Andrew at 12 weeks old to SIDS a year prior. Both his parents passed away from painful and untimely diseases. His brother my dad, Robert Fox died in 2016 at the age of 56, and of course his 22 month old great niece Aurora tragically and suddenly in 2017. Like my Dad, Ronnie has been diagnosed with lung cancer. It has spread to his brain. His whole life Ronnie has been a fighter. Even though life has found a way to bring him to his knees time and time again...he always comes back swinging. Ronnie wants to fight this cancer with all the spitfire and sweat that makes him the passionate Italian we know and love. Unfortunately living on a fixed income he is limited as his treatments are 2 hours away into the city. Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic the VA cannot provide safe transportation for him in his high risk situation. Additionally because of Covid-19 he must remain alone and quarantined from any family while he is coming in and out of the hospital for treatments. He is a proud stubborn Italian stallion and while he has been so strong through this recent and devastating news, I am worried about him, his travel costs, meals, lodging, care and boarding for his sweet pup Toby, his only companion these last 8 years, and all the other costs associated with invasive treatments will undoubtedly be impossible for him to manage. Even though times are so so hard for so so many, please be willing to donate if you can. Anything helps to fill a tank of gas, or buy a burger on the road...especially when your fighting alone.
