Help Me Reclaim My Life: Fighting for Stability
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James and I’m 34 years old. I’m currently homeless, living out of my car, and trying desperately to hold on to what little I have left. I’m autistic, bipolar, and living with complex PTSD caused by a lifetime of abuse and trauma that I’m still working to heal from.
Most of my adult life was spent on disability due to my mental health challenges. In 2019, that support was taken away, and I was forced into the workforce for the first time at 28 years old without the tools, support, or stability I needed. Since then, I’ve struggled with finding and keeping the employment I manage to find. Most recently I lost a job with a landscaping company due to a back injury, they fired me because I asked to reduce my hours to put less stress on my back...
Outside of my recent physical injury, my history of trauma makes it hard to function in typical job settings, and the lack of a strong educational background or up-to-date certifications makes it even harder.
Despite everything, I’ve managed to hold onto my car—my last refuge and lifeline. But I’m drowning in debt from the car loan, and the vehicle desperately needs maintenance to stay roadworthy and safe. I’m asking for $10,000 to cover necessary repairs to keep my car/mobile home, as well as a safety net for a few months to prevent my situation from getting worse.
This would remove a huge weight from my shoulders and give me a fighting chance to find stable work, housing, and maybe even start to heal.
If you’ve ever felt lost, stuck, or overwhelmed by life, please know that your help could literally be life-changing for me. Every donation, share, or kind word makes a difference.
Thank you for reading my story—and thank you for your compassion.
