Help My Dad, Kevin Salazar, Get Back on His Feet

Hey everyone — I’m Kevin Salazar Jr., and I’m putting this together for my dad, Kevin Salazar. Most of you know him — and if you do, you know how hard this is to write.

On April 16th, we rushed him to the hospital thinking it was a bad infection. But things got serious fast. He was diagnosed with sepsis, endocarditis (a heart infection), and multiple mini strokes — all at once. He ended up in the ICU on a ventilator, and for a while, we weren’t sure if he was going to make it.

That was probably the longest and scariest few days of our lives.

But if there’s one thing you can count on with my dad — it’s that he doesn’t go down without a fight.

Now he’s awake, off the ventilator, and completely aware. He knows exactly what’s going on and is slowly starting to communicate again. His movement is very limited right now because of the strokes, but we’re already seeing signs of progress. It’s going to take time, therapy, and a lot of patience (which if you know my dad... yeah, that should be interesting).

He’s the father of four of us: Destiny (11), Cayde (13), Sadie (14), and me (22). We’re all pulling together, doing our best to support him through this and keep things going at home.

We’re not asking for any specific amount. Honestly, if you’ve ever shared a laugh with my dad, worked with him, or just know the kind of man he is — and you want to help — anything you give is appreciated. It’ll go toward medical bills, recovery costs, therapy, and helping take care of what needs to be handled while he focuses on healing.

Even if you just share this or send him a message — it means the world right now.

This is going to be a long road, but I know my dad. He’s going to walk again. He’s going to make us laugh again. And at some point, he’s definitely going to tell us all we worried too much.

Thanks for reading this, for loving him, and for standing with us.
