Please help our cause for my 3 year old nephew Jake.
Jake is a ray of sunshine whenever he enters a room. Full of energy and laughter, Jake always leaves a smile on your face. He's a warm, kind hearted little boy, that loves super heroes!
However, Jake has been diagnosed with a rare abnormality in his brain called Dural Arteriovenous Fistula and he requires treatment. If he is left untreated, he will experience hemmorage, stroke, and death. Jake was first diagnosed when he was 8 months old, because his mom noticed the veins around his eyes were larger than normal. After many tests, he was diagnosed. They immediately did a procedure called embolization when Jake was just a year old, and the Dr's thought Jake would be good. However, a recent angiogram has revealed that feeder veins have now developed and Jake needs additional procedures as quickly as possible.
Jake is in need of 3 embolizations (which are essentially surgery and require hospital stays) within a month. The surgeon for these are located in California at Stanford. The surgeon requires a week in between each embolization, to reduce Jake's chance of bleeding, stroke, and death following each procedure.
I'm reaching out for my family and asking for help, because I know the medical expenses for this are high, on top of having to pay to have the procedures done, and finding a way to get from AZ to CA and Jake's parents need help.
The stress of having to find a way to pay for treatment in order to keep Jake healthy, as well as the unknown future, is surely enough reason to ask for help. Thank you in advance for anything you can give to help us keep our little Jake as sunny as ever!!
