Out of respect for her privacy, I will keep her name anonymous. Since the birth of her baby, she has been battling a serious illness that has required frequent hospital stays resulting in enormous medical debt.

Adding to these challenges, she was assaulted by her child's father. To ensure her and her young child's safety, she obtained a restraining order and was forced to relocate immediately. She incurred over $30,000 in legal fees to secure full custody of her child, which she thankfully now has. Despite the restraining order, her abuser has continued to stalk her, forcing her to leave her home, job, and community to start over completely. She now faces another legal hurdle and she needs to get the custody and restraining order case moved counties, requiring a $7,500 retainer for an attorney to continue to protect her baby.

The past year has been largely financed through debt, and she is now over $100,000 in debt, struggling to cover basic living expenses. She is currently working several jobs to provide shelter and food for her little one, every day continues to be a great struggle.
