As I write this I am still in shock. My parents neighborhood burned down in a wildfire today, 3/5/22. As they were trying to pack their dogs into their car and evacuate, flames suddenly engulfed their car and home and they had to get out and run. They got separated and were terrified. Somehow, by the grace of God, they each reached the pond at the end of their driveway and got in to escape the heat and flames. They each were in the pond thinking the other one has been lost, but as the smoke cleared they saw each other and were so relieved they both had survived. Unfortunately they lost their entire home, surrounding structures, vehicles and worst of all their dear pets (3 dogs and 3 cats). Despite her frantic efforts, my mom was unable to get her dogs out of the car as the flames engulfed the vehicle. They were seen and treated in the Hutchinson ER for burns and smoke inhalation and are both still in shock and emotionally exhausted. They do have home insurance but we are seeking any help we can get to rebuild their life. Thank you!
