Help a Vet in Need

Fellow Legionnaires & Friends. COVID-19 has impacted many of us in an unprecedented way. Recently I was approached by Former Marine Sergeant Jason Hopkins, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan for assistance in my capacity as Commander of American Legion Post #8 on Capitol Hill. Jason lost his job earlier in the year and has been living off his savings which have been expended. He is pending a new job as an overseas contractor, but cannot deploy until he gets his visa and it is safe to travel. Jason, begrudgingly, asked for help and feels slightly ashamed in asking for help. Pending his application for rent relief, I am soliciting funds to help cover his back rent. He has promised me he will pay back this money and when he does, I will donate these funds to the American Legion, Department of DC, for use as they see fit. Please consider helping this warrior out this Christmas who served our country and who now needs our help.
