Hey everyone, I am the owner of the Evan Bed and we build beds for children with special needs. Once every couple months we spotlight a child that is needing the benefits of a safe night sleep. These have always been very successful for the families because of generous donations big and small!
Like I tell the families, if we do a GoFund me they WILL get a bed even if the funds aren’t raised but this certainly helps us continue to provide for families across the country!
Here are a few words from Jaylee’s mother…
“Jaylee is in need of a more appropriate bed due to her being unable to walk and getting heavier for mom and dad to lift from the ground. Jaylee has had a tough journey with two open heart surgeries after being diagnosed with heart failure at 6 months old. She then was listed for a heart transplant in 2019 and received her new heart in April 2019. After receiving her new life saving gift she went into cardiac arrest hours later and was put on ECMO. Against all odds Jaylee is now 5 years old, in kindergarten and happy! We have many doctors appointments and see many specialty doctors to keep our Jaylee healthy and thriving! Because of Jaylee’s medical history including heart failure, heart surgeries, transplant, genetic deletion which caused her heart issues, she now is physically and cognitively delayed. She is not able to walk without her walker and her having a taller and safer bed is the goal! With her having a heart transplant she is also immunocompromised and has a weaker immune system which causes her to get sick often and longer illnesses. Having a bed that can incline is also the safe goal for Jaylee. My husband and I both work at Iowa State University and we live in Nevada, IA. We have found having grandparents or other family members come watch Jaylee has been a struggle due to her current bed situation. But, we also know Jaylee has spent too many nights in a hospital bed that I’ve been doing LOTS of research, up all night, trying to find the perfect bed for Jaylee that doesn’t too closely resemble a hospital bed. Thank you for any and all of the help with making this wish for our Jaylee come true!”
