A dear friend in need

Hi, my name is Claire and I'm fundraising for my dear friend, Jolene Wells. Jolene, 35 years old, lives is Cirencester, was diagnosed with partial kidney cancer 4 months ago, yet she has been fighting with doctors and hospitals for the past year, to push for further testing, results, scans etc. From what started out as what the doctors called it, "gallstones" further scans resulted in the findings of kidney cancer! This knocked her, and her family for six! Nothing could've prepared them for news like this! It was devastating! But Jo being Jo, a very strong, independent, brave woman that she is, tried carrying on as normal, still worked right up until she literally did not have the energy inside her any longer to keep going. So she had to give up working to focus on her health.

Jolene has now, just last week, had the surgery required to remove the cancerous tumour from her kidney. She now has to stay at home for 6 weeks, without doing anything strenuous, which means no working, no housework, no running around with her 2 children and 2 dogs. Doing nothing is something Jolene finds very difficult to do. She likes to keep busy.

Since having the surgery, Jolene is not in the clear just yet. She has to go back to hospital in 2 weeks to check if she needs any further surgery. Then there's further scans and tests etc ofcourse. Jolene travels from Cirencester to Hampshire each time she has a hospital appointment for scans, tests, results, and surgery. She did not want the hassle of switching hospitals halfway through her diagnosis, which could prolong treatment. As you can imagine, this consumes alot of fuel, on a regular basis.

Her partner Luke is a hardworking, supportive partner and father. He has only been given 6 days of paid leave from his work, to help look after Jolene. This is not long enough, yet they cannot afford for him to have unpaid time off.

I am kindly asking for any donation, no matter how small, to help support Jolene and her family with the upkeep of their monthly bills, food, fuel, anything, to just ease their struggle at this difficult and worrying time, until Jolene is able to get back on her feet, got the all clear and is back to work again, doing what she enjoys and does best.

Thank you all so, so much. Kind regards.
