Help Bring Dante Home
Donation protected

This week Dante had an emergency medical operation, and unfortunately the vet bills are higher than either of us thought possible. The fundraising total is still only an estimate. We could not consider the alternative of putting him down, as any pet owner can appreciate. He is too young, too loved, and we couldn't leave Ari without his brother. Below are the details to what happened.
On Sunday May 23rd, Dante ingested a long string he found from somewhere (we had no idea this happened). He threw up Sunday night, which we thought was a normal occurrence. On Monday morning we found more places with vomit. Watching him from home, Dante continued to vomit, all liquid bile. We called the vet and got him an appointment the next morning. By the time we brought him in Dante had thrown up 11 times.
The vet ran some tests and sent him to the pet hospital. They did an ultrasound and found the foreign object in his body. An emergency surgery was suddenly underway. They found that the string got stuck wrapped around his tongue, went through his stomach, through his intestines, and down to his colon. The surgeon was able to remove the string, but it might have left behind some damage to his intestines.
We are fortunate that we live in Santa Barbara where there are top of the line pet hospitals and expert vet surgeons that were able to perform the life-saving operations. Dante is still at the hospital, Wednesday morning, because he still isn't eating and is moving slowly. They are keeping him for another day to check for infections.
I will keep this page up to date as we try and bring our little Dante home. Please, if you can donate any small amount, this will go a long way for our financial recovery. If you're reading this, you know we love you and appreciate all the support!
