Megan’s half marathon in support of my mum

I’m running my first half marathon to support my mum going through cancer treatment for the third time within the space of 7 years.

Unfortunately in July 2017 we were told my mum had Triple Negative Breast Cancer which was devastating news but my mum managed to fight it thankfully, then in January 2019, only months after having the all clear, she was re-diagnosed with the same type of cancer again… this was obviously awful news, but again, she managed to fight it off!! We finally thought she was over the worst of it and we celebrated her ‘5 Year Cancer Free’ with a lovely party in August 2024, only for her to be re-diagnosed with cancer again in the October, except this time it has spread to her sternum and lymph nodes.

They have told my mum it’s incurable but we don’t believe that, so she’s trying lots of different supplements, off licensed medicines and specific diet plans, as well as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. This is why I want to raise as much money as possible to try and fund all of the extra things my mum now has to buy. If we manage to raise more than expected then the remaining money will be going to Prevent Breast Cancer - a charity very close to our hearts that has been of great support over the years.

Over these 7 years especially, my mum and I have raised so much money for charity but this time I would like to raise the money for my mum so she can buy all the supplements she needs to try and fight the cancer!
