I write today not just as the founder of B.U.I.L.D Sports Africa, but as someone who has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of sports in the lives of African youth.
When I launched B.U.I.L.D. the mission was clear: to B.U.I.L.D the leaders of tomorrow through sports and education using five core principals — Basics. Utilization. Identity. Longevity. Diversification.
So far, the journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We've seen young children grow into confident leaders within their communities, and raw talents evolve into skilled athletes playing at some of the top Universities in the U.S. Many of which have gotten opportunities through sports that they could never have imagined. However, I must share a reality that threatens the continuity of this dream. B.U.I.L.D. Sports Africa finds itself at a crossroads, with dwindling funds that threaten to halt the impactful work we've been trying to do. The hard truth is that without more support, our ability to provide funding, equipment, and facility access is at serious risk. Currently, I am sustaining our initiatives out of my own pocket, which is not a scalable or sustainable solution given my reality as a college senior. The impact of the organization is tangible. We have witnessed our athletes go from refugee camps to Division 1 college teams, secure scholarships from our tournaments, and most importantly, become role models and foster relationships in their communities. But the reality is that the dreams of these young athletes could be short-lived if we do not find a way to replenish the resources needed to continue this support. I'm therefore reaching out to my network of supporters and advocates for youth development, to help keep these dreams alive and growing. Your donation, no matter the size, has the power to change lives. It means another pair of sports shoes for a child with none, another scholarship for a talented youth, or continued transport to and from school for another. The youth we support do not lack talent or determination; what they lack are resources. We're not just asking for monetary donations; we're inviting you to invest in the future of countless African youth through any means you deem impactful. Be it donating shoes, water bottles, food, or more, please consider contributing today.
Every moment we can keep programs running is another moment a child’s life is changed for the better. Together, we can build more than just athletes; we can build leaders and scholars. With your support, we can continue to make a profound impact on the lives of countless young athletes first in Kenya and then across the entirety of Africa.
