Wade Bennett

Hi, my name is Fiona, and I am fundraising for my friend Wade Bennett. Wade has permitted me to do this fundraiser on his behalf.

In 1995 Wade's life changed forever. He was involved in a horrific water-skiing accident at Mildura, which ripped his body in half, his leg is paralysed, and he has needed to learn how to walk 11 times again. In the last 25 years, Wade has had 78 operations. For those who follow Wade on Facebook, you are well aware of the trials and tribulations Wade has had to encounter with each and every operation. Wade has spent the last decade mainly bed-bound due to these operations which he cannot afford on the Disability Pension alone.

Wade has come to a point where his incoming funds are less than his outgoing expenses and is in the process of selling the one asset he has, his home, so that he can financially support himself to pay for his ongoing medication, operations and day-to-day living expenses.

Wade is a proud man who is reserved about asking for financial assistance, but a recent Facebook post created an outpouring of people wanting to help him. Wade's ideal situation would be to gain paid work in social media in the waterski racing industry. He has already committed 13 years of volunteering for Water Ski Racing as the most prominent Social Media Publicist, Coordinator and Promoter. Despite water ski racing changing his life, he is still very passionate about the sport and being an advocate and promoting it. Wade is proud of his sporting accomplishments of being a champion able and disabled Australian athlete and a Torch Bearer at the Sydney Olympics. If you can help out a mate that needs a helping hand, it would be greatly appreciated.
