Lovette’s Rally Against Cancer
* A little Background....
For the last 10 years, my sister Lovette has held several long-term positions through contract agencies. She endured multiple short-term layoffs, including one extended layoff of 15 months, which caused her to deplete her savings, including a 401k. The financial struggles were so great; she was forced into the foreclosure process. The foreclosure was resolved with a loan modification, but with a hitch -- the new monthly payment increased by $135/month. During this time, she had no choice but to allow her auto insurance to lapse, and since then, the registration / inspection has also expired, leaving her without legal transportation. She continued working, trying very hard to get back on her feet. She now had some personal loans to pay back, and now, an illegal car and higher mortgage payments.
* The Battle begins....
In June 2015, Lovey began having back pain, but being unable to afford health insurance, she continued working until Oct. 6th, when her doctor pulled her out of work and prescribed 10 weeks of physical therapy. (Because it was a medical reason and not a layoff, there were no unemployment benefits from the contract agency). Worker’s Compensation has not been forthcoming, and now we learn that even that is not a hope for financial relief. It wasn't long before she was staring into a mounting pile of medical bills, in addition to normal monthly expenses that she was still trying to get caught up on.
When the PT treatments did not work, she was referred to a Physiatrist, who prescribed xrays and an MRI, and in turn, he referred her to an Oncologist.
The Oncologist prescribed further tests, and after a CT Scan, X-Rays and blood work, has diagnosed my sister with bone cancer (likely multiple myeloma or metastatic disease). Further tests will be done next week including a biopsy, with staging of her cancer, and a treatment plan put in place. She has applied for Medicaid benefits, however, the medical bills up to this point are still outstanding, along with her regular monthly bills, and that is causing her a great deal of mental and emotional distress. Additionally, her vehicle needs to be insured and legal again, because it will be required in order to get to and doctor visits, labs and pharmacies.
* Praying for your assistance....
Your prayers and donations are desperately needed! Lovette needs to focus on getting well instead of making herself sicker with worry over bills. My brothers and I have been providing financial support, but very soon our sister's needs will outstrip even our resources.
With medical and household bills piling up, getting her vehicle legal again, getting necessary medical equipment, and the cost of prescriptions/ lab work/tests co-pays, your donation would be a God-send, for which she (and her family) would be forever grateful.
We plan to post updates as they happen, and should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send an email or leave a message with your email address included.
Won't you please help Lovette in her battle to beat this illness?
