Baby Ray’s Recovery

Hi everyone - Our family and friends have started this Go Fund Me page for Ray Elwell, Megan and Pat’s beloved infant son. Megan is my sister and Ray, my nephew. This is a tragic and terrifyingly scary situation. Please read on.

Ray was out for a walk with his grandma on Monday, 10/10/22. He was in his car seat/ stroller when they attempted to cross the street at a cross walk. Unfortunately, a distracted teenage driver hit Ray and caused some very serious injuries to his tiny body. Thankfully his grandmother was not injured and he was immediately taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Ray is currently recovering at Children’s in the ICU and has been nothing short of a trooper and a superhero baby. Same for mom and dad. Ray suffered 4 broken ribs, 2 broken neck vertebrae, and bleeding on his brain. Despite the severity and seriousness of his injuries, he is stable and expected to make a full recovery, thank god! He is requiring lots of meds to keep him comfortable and his pain under control.

My sister, Megan, became a stay at home mom when she had Ray back in May. Her husband, Pat, is self-employed and doesn’t earn an income when he is not working.

They also have bare minimum health insurance, unfortunately one of the negative impacts of being self-employed.

Our family is hoping to help raise funds to ease their medical bill and financial burden and to offset their inability to work while caring for Ray and being with him in the hospital during his recovery. They are amazing parents and Ray is the light of their lives (and all of ours), but they are living every parents worst nightmare.
